How Does the Salt Lounge Work?

Salt Room Design
The décor features a Himalayan salt brick wall, and floors covered in Himalayan salt crystals. The dim lighting and relaxing décor enhances the therapeutic and relaxing experience.

Salt Dispersion
Our salt therapy room is designed to create an environment rich in salt particles. The heart and soul of our salt room starts with the Salt Chamber halogenerator. This machine intakes air and is comprised of a salt feeder, and a grinder that transforms pure medical grade sodium chloride into precise micro-sized salt particles and disperses the dry salt aerosol into the salt therapy room.

Session Duration
Salt therapy sessions are 25 or 45 minutes in our enclosed salt therapy room.

Breathing and Relaxation
During the session, individuals breathe normally while inhaling the salt-infused air. The salt particles are believed to have therapeutic properties that can help to cleanse the respiratory system, reduce inflammation, and improve breathing. Additionally, the calming environment of the salt room, combined with the rhythmic breathing patterns encouraged during the session, can promote relaxation and stress relief.

Hygiene and Safety
Salt therapy rooms are designed with hygiene and safety in mind. The salt used in the room is typically sourced from natural salt deposits and undergoes rigorous quality control to ensure purity. The room is regularly cleaned and sanitized to maintain a clean environment. Individuals may be provided with disposable shoe covers and hairnets to prevent contamination of the salt surfaces.
The History of Halotherapy?
Salt therapy, also known as Halotherapy, has roots in ancient traditions and natural occurrences. Here’s a brief overview of the history of salt therapy:

Ancient Salt Caves
The therapeutic use of salt caves can be traced back to ancient times. People in different cultures and regions believed in the healing properties of salt caves. One of the most famous examples is the Wieliczka Salt Mine in Poland, which has been in operation since the 13th century. Miners and locals believed that the air in the salt mine had therapeutic effects on respiratory and skin conditions.

Speleotherapy
The term “speleotherapy” refers to the therapeutic use of natural salt caves or underground environments. In the mid-20th century, European physicians began to study the health benefits associated with spending time in salt mines. The observations led to the development of speleotherapy as a form of treatment for respiratory conditions.

Introduction of Halotherapy
The formalization of salt therapy, known as Halotherapy, began in the mid-20th century. The term “halo” is derived from the Greek word for salt. Halotherapy involved recreating the salt cave environment artificially. This was done by dispersing dry salt particles into the air, creating a controlled environment for therapeutic purposes.

Modern Halotherapy Facilities
In recent decades, dedicated salt therapy facilities have been established around the world. These facilities include salt rooms or caves where individuals can relax and inhale air infused with microscopic salt particles. The controlled environment aims to provide the potential therapeutic benefits of natural salt caves.
Today people seek salt therapy for conditions such as asthma, allergies, bronchitis, and skin disorders. It’s important for individuals to approach salt therapy as a complementary therapy and consult healthcare professionals for guidance, especially if they have existing health conditions.
The Benefits of Salt Therapy
Salt therapy, also known as Halotherapy, involves inhaling salt-infused air to provide potential health benefits. While individual experiences may vary, some reported benefits of salt therapy include:

Respiratory Health:
Reduced Inflammation: Salt particles are believed to have anti-inflammatory properties. Inhaling salt-infused air may help to reduce inflammation in the airways, making it easier to breathe for individuals with respiratory conditions like asthma and bronchitis.
Mucus Clearance: The salt particles can also help to thin and loosen mucus, making it easier for the body to expel. This can be especially beneficial for individuals with conditions characterized by excessive mucus production, such as bronchitis and COPD.
Improved Lung Function: By reducing inflammation and promoting mucus clearance, Halotherapy may contribute to improved lung function and respiratory capacity over time.

Allergy Relief:
Airway Cleansing: Salt therapy is believed to help cleanse the airways of allergens and irritants, such as pollen, dust, and pet dander. Inhaling salt-infused air may help to reduce the severity of allergic reactions and alleviate symptoms like sneezing, congestion, and itching.
Anti-inflammatory Effects: Salt’s anti-inflammatory properties may also help to reduce the inflammatory response triggered by allergens, providing relief for individuals with allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and other respiratory allergies.

Skin Conditions:
Antimicrobial Action: Salt has natural antimicrobial properties that can help to combat bacteria and fungi on the skin. This may be beneficial for individuals with skin conditions like acne, where bacterial overgrowth plays a role.
Moisturizing and Exfoliating: Salt can help to exfoliate dead skin cells and promote skin hydration, potentially improving the appearance and texture of the skin. This could benefit individuals with dry, flaky skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

Stress Reduction:
Relaxing Environment: Halotherapy sessions are often conducted in tranquil settings, such as salt caves or rooms with dim lighting and calming music. The serene ambiance can help to promote relaxation and reduce stress levels.
Deep Breathing: Practicing deep breathing techniques during Halotherapy sessions can further enhance relaxation by calming the nervous system and promoting mindfulness.

Improved Sleep:
Respiratory Support: By alleviating respiratory issues like snoring and congestion, Halotherapy may contribute to better sleep quality and fewer interruptions during the night.
Relaxation Benefits: The stress-reducing effects of Halotherapy can also translate into improved sleep, as individuals may find it easier to unwind and fall asleep after a session.

Detoxification:
Respiratory Detox: Halotherapy is believed to help detoxify the respiratory system by clearing out impurities and toxins that may accumulate in the airways. This cleansing action may support overall respiratory health and function.

Athletic Performance Enhancement:
Improved Respiratory Function: Athletes and fitness enthusiasts may use Halotherapy to enhance their lung function and endurance. By improving respiratory health and oxygen uptake, Halotherapy could potentially boost athletic performance and recovery.
Reduced Risk of Respiratory Infections: Strengthening the respiratory system through salt therapy may also help athletes avoid respiratory infections, which can sideline training and competition.
